I’ve known Sandra for a few years now, having met her when we were both pregnant. So I’ve known little Summer since she was born. She’s 4 days younger than my son and it’s been wonderful watching them grow together. When Sandra approached me to do their family photoshoot I jumped at the chance to capture their beautiful family!

Summer was a lockdown baby, and that also meant that her dad, Nick, worked from home instead of going in to the office each day as he would in more “normal” times. And so, he was able to spend more time with Summer than he would usually do. His close relationship with Summer is evident of this, and I loved capturing the sweet quiet moments between them.

The photos turned out in pastels and soft light, and I was so pleased they did! They suit Summer’s sweet, shy nature and tell the family’s story so well. My favourite photos of them all are the close ups, the cuddly ones. They are so natural and show the closeness of the family unit.

We had planned on getting out and about for the photos but unfortunately the weather didn’t play along that day. So we decided to stay indoors and take photos in Summer’s play room and her beautiful bedroom, and escaped outside for some snaps when there was a short break in the weather.

And who could forget their dog Luna! She’s more photogenic than most humans, and she’s a big part of the family too! She’s so gentle and relaxed with Summer. I can tell they’re going to have a wonderful friendship whole Summer grows up!
